In Light of Mitt's comments during his speech at CPAC yesterday about why he was getting out of the race, so that Liberal Democrat would not be elected, I wonder WTF is Mike Huckabee is thinking by not withdrawing from the race?

It probably won't matter.

Other than wanting to stay in and be a voice for his supporters, I’m not sure what Huckabee’s game is at this point. He’s not going to win and he’s not going to force a brokered convention. He may slow down McCain’s coronation but he’s not going to stop it.

Republican Vice President pick

Whoever is picked by McCain for VP, should be a front runner for President in 2012, assuming McCain is a 1 term President. Lets hope it's not a Dan Quayle type of choice.

Mitt would be a great choice, and would set him up as a sitting VP for the next Presidential election. Sitting VP's usually have a huge advantage. As strong as Dick Cheney is/was as VP, was he actually a good choice considering he was never going to run for President.

Hindsight, I won't use it.

........but I think there are a lot of people that are in Steve’s position, and a lot of people who would be swayed into voting Republican in 2008 if McCain picks a Vice-Presidential nominee they can live with, especially if Hillary is the Democratic nominee. The problem is that history shows that Republican nominees haven’t done that great a job picking running mates recently. Reagan did a fairly good job picking George H.W. Bush in 1980 because Bush solidified his links with the GOP Establishment, and Bush was a pretty good Vice-President. Other than that, things don’t look good .........

Mitt Romney is a genuine conservative compared to the presumptive nominee John McCain. The loyal party people will all step in line and support John McCain and I understand why. Mitt is even doing it for the party. I will not be stepping in line.

Soon, the face of liberalism in America will have a new name. Whether it is Barack or Hillary, the result would be the same if they were to win the Presidency. The opponents of American culture would push the throttle, devising new justifications for judges to depart from the constitution. Economic neophytes would layer heavier and heavier burdens on employers and families, slowing our economy and opening the way for foreign competition to further erode our lead.

Even though we face an uphill fight, I know that many in this room are fully behind my campaign.” You are with me all the way to the convention. Fight on, just like Ronald Reagan did in 1976. But there is an important difference from 1976: today… we are a nation at war.

And Barack and Hillary have made their intentions clear regarding Iraq and the war on terror. They would retreat and declare defeat. And the consequence of that would be devastating. It would mean attacks on America, launched from safe havens that make Afghanistan under the Taliban look like child’s play. About this, I have no doubt.

Last post of the night. Hopefully the first in a long series looking at the right wing media's view of the State of the Republican party.

Ann Coulter wrote a scathing discussion on John McCain yesterday.

An excerpt.

On the litmus test issues of our time, only partially excluding Iraq, McCain is a liberal.
He excoriated Samuel Alito as too "conservative."
He promoted amnesty for 20 million illegal immigrants.
He abridged citizens' free speech (in favor of the media) with McCain-Feingold.
He hysterically opposes waterboarding terrorists and wants to shut down Guantanamo.
Can I take a breath now?
He denounced the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
He opposes ANWR and supports the global warming cult, even posturing with fellow mountebank Arnold Schwarzenegger in front of solar panels.

The only site that would have been more appropriate for Schwarzenegger in endorsing McCain would have been in front of an abortion clinic.

Mitt Romney suspends campaign today

Today Mitt Romney suspended his Campaign for the 2008 Republican Presidential nomination. Today the Republican party took 1 step closer to being a liberal party. That is unacceptable to me.

I will not be voting for John McCain. I will not be a sheep and do something like vote for McCain for the "good of the party" I will do something for the good of me and the good of conservatives.

Today I will begin a campaign for Conservatives that do not have a person running for President. We may not win the election, we will affect it.
